Are you ready?
Ever-ready!!
It was a familiar question and response that resounded at every part of the camp during the day, drilling into the ears of every camper. What a blast we had at SPACE Camp!
The camp that happened from 14 – 16 June was an out-of-the-world success as 284 campers and 45 group leaders came together for a fun time of games and activities, supported by the energetic teams of gamemasters, logistics, media, admin, food and decor. It was a massive event with lots of running, laughing and yummy food.
The camp was planned 1 year ago with many months of meetings and preparations. It was a wonderful team collaboration between the English and Chinese Children ministries. We worked together to ensure that every camper would leave the camp happy and blessed, knowing that God loves each of them.
The many months of planning and preparations bear fruit in the form of beautiful decorations that lined the main chapel and the different game stations, the cool space suits that every gamemaster wore, the fun games, the delicious lunches and tea breaks, the smooth registration process, and the interesting stories and sharing by Astronaut Chris.
And every camper was placed in groups to be taken care of by a group of loving group leaders who showed them God’s love through their words and actions. The groups were named Asteroid, Comet, Eclipse, Falcon, Lunar, Orion, Solar and Titan. Each group had their own cheer to spur one another on.
The campers had such a great time playing the many games that were planned to teach them about alertness, perseverance, attentiveness, persistence and courage. Integrity was taught as they learned to follow the game rules. If you follow the rules, you will win!
There were many opportunities for the campers to learn about good attitude and great character. Say thank you, lend a helping hand, cheer for one another, good sportsmanship, being patient with one another, listen and obey – it was a fulfilling day of building up one’s attitude and character. Go, go ,go!
Good attitude + Great character = We are all winners!
